The 2019 Deloitte Fast 50 launches its search for New Zealand’s best businesses
The Deloitte Fast 50 kicked off its 19th year in style at the start of June, with simultaneous events in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. The launch events were attended by a number of business owners and leaders, from familiar faces from previous years to new and interested parties, keen to find out more about the programme.
At the Auckland event, we hosted Ronnie Xue, CEO of QEX Logistics, who came fourth on last year’s Master of Growth index, Toby Littin, CEO of 2018 Rising Star winner Parkable, and Luke Blincoe, Chief Executive of last year's Fast 50 leader Electric Kiwi. All three shared their experience of the Fast 50 programme, their continued business success since last year’s events and how they overcame the challenges of fast growth.
Ronnie, Toby and Luke also hinted at their businesses returning as contenders in the 2019 Deloitte Fast 50, with Ronnie saying that ‘the Fast 50 programme is just like a reward for us at the end of a year – and it helps us set a goal for next year’.
In Christchurch, Chris O’Reilly, co-founder of AskYourTeam, shared his insights as an experienced leader and CEO. Speaking to the audience, he emphasised the importance of listening to being an effective leader, having the ability to respond to feedback and surrounding yourself with people who have strengths that are different to yours.
Finally, in our nation’s capital, investor and start-up business mentor, Victoria MacLennan, took to the stage. She shared her views on issues important to the fast-growth community and emphasised the need for New Zealand industries to work together on the world stage.
As well as featuring some fantastic speakers, the theme of this year’s programme was unveiled as a search for the ‘formula for success’, taking a scientific approach inspired by the periodic table of elements.
