Feature story: FinTech Accelerator programme with Lightning Lab
Deloitte Private is proud to sponsor the second Kiwibank FinTech Accelerator programme facilitated by the Lightning Lab in Wellington and featuring some of our Deloitte Private people as start-up mentors.
The three-month business growth programme is a great opportunity for high-impact businesses to contribute to better financial systems for Kiwis and Kiwi companies. Teams work in-house for 14 weeks with expert support on how to build, launch and expand their businesses.
Lightning Lab provides each start-up in the programme with guidance on structure, method, business acumen and focused support so they can find the best market fit for their products and rapidly grow their user base. Lightning Lab is also an investment pathway that has proven to be successful in building strong companies and significantly increasing their value to investors.
The accelerator programme is an exciting step towards putting Kiwi FinTech on the map globally and furthering Wellington’s reputation as a home of innovation in the local finance sector. Inspired by the programme, Deloitte Private partner and programme mentor, Ian Fay says, “Deloitte Private is really proud to be a part of the programme as a sponsor - we’re exposed innovative businesspeople and learn lean start-up thinking from them, plus we can share our knowledge to help their businesses achieve high growth.”
Online investment platform, Sharesies, was part of the first Kiwibank FinTech Accelerator in 2017. It helped the seven co-founders turn their idea into a business by providing the momentum, tools and support crucial for their success. Since graduating from the programme, Sharesies has achieved NZ$1 million in investments and 5,000 users. Take a look at our blog post with Sharesies co-founder, Brooke Roberts, and hear what she learned from the programme.
